“And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness.” Gen 15: 5-6

This probably isn’t the first time you’re hearing this phrase but what does it mean to dream with God?

I’ve asked that question several times because dreaming about things that haven’t happened seems almost like a childish and irresponsible thing to do, in the world today we are discouraged from using our imagination or daydreaming about the life we want because reality doesn’t give us room for dreams, “Life is cruel and reality is brutal” they say. One thing I've noticed is the words “Dreams and Imagination” are always used positively, no one says “That’s a bad imagination” they would rather call it a bad thought or anxiety, while bad dreams are called nightmares. So when we talk about imagination and dreams they are always positive, and I believe the reason is that God wants us to use them as a tool for spirituality.

We know that God speaks to us through dreams, the Bible is full of stories about people receiving messages from God through dreams, but I believe that dreams serve another purpose. I realized this when Holy Spirit took me on a study of Gideon one of the judges in Israel’s history, Gideon had fears and anxiety, God was calling him to do something that was beyond him and he knew it, but God had to get him to think positively and He did that by giving Gideon’s enemies a dream about Gideon and even giving the interpretation of the dream to them, so Gideon could see what was in God’s heart.
